Welcome

First, let me start by saying that I am no expert. My mother-in-law is an exquisite cook and my husband’s Uncle Tim can make anything taste remarkable. In my younger days, cooking seemed like drudgery. I avoided cooking from scratch and was content to get my fill of homemade delicious foods at family gatherings – dishes that other people had prepared.

I find my viewpoint has changed though in my fifth decade of life. Food preparation has become a source of entertainment and a social event. I don’t know what brought about this change. Maybe it has to do with watching Food Network. Maybe it is spending time with relatives who clearly enjoy trying new recipes and taste adventures. Maybe, I simply have more time for this pursuit. What I do know is that trying new recipes can be fun – whether they turn out well or not so well. So that’s what we are going to do.

My husband and I are hoping to prepare old recipes from cookbooks that are available on the archive.org. which is partnered with the Library of Congress. We have linked several of these cookbooks on our site for easy access. We also hope to recruit our friends and relatives as “guest chefs” to try their hand at conjuring recipes from centuries ago.

We hope you enjoy our attempts and welcome your feedback!  Be sure to check out and like our facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/letsmakeitagain

“No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers.” – Laurie Colwin
